ASHLEY ANDERSON
BIOGRAPHY:
Ashley is a self taught plein air watercolor painter based in Bishop, CA. Her art has been from the Capitol Building in DC to the heart ledges of El Capitan. She is most drawn to rock features most brought to life by the sharp edge of a pen. Originally from Virginia, she travels America in search of interesting shadows and the gleam of sunrise.ARTIST STATEMENT:
I only paint on two occasions: when I'm outside and when I'm not. I prefer to paint directly from life, with no barriers between me and the light. Almost all of my work is completed on site to capture a fleeting moment in time. Hopefully you find a connection with these places as I do.My subjects range from vast horizons to the dappled light on a branch. Dramatic cliffs and prominent boulders are my most popular muses. My hands have a memory for the glaciated granite of the Sierra and their unique features. For iconic climbing centers like El Capitan, I aim to replicate features well enough that you can trace the climbing routes.I am open to commission work, murals, and teaching series.
